Seven-song release brings together four recent singles and three new songs, with Layer Two arriving September 25, 2026
Michael Sarver has released his new seven-song EP, Layer One, available now through WieRise Music, powered by WieRok Entertainment Group.
Released August 21, 2026, Layer One brings together four songs Sarver has introduced throughout 2026—“Limitless,” “More Like You,” “Count It All Joy” and “Wonderful God”—alongside three previously unreleased tracks: “Faithful,” “Storms Don’t Bother Me” and “Fire.”
The EP also serves as the first half of a larger collection of music from Sarver. Layer Two, a second seven-song release, is scheduled for September 25, 2026, with the two projects together offering a broader look at the faith, experiences and personal story behind his current season of songwriting.
For Sarver, that story has increasingly become part of the songs themselves.
Earlier this year, “Limitless” drew from the biblical story of the Prodigal Son while also reflecting Sarver’s own experiences as a father and son. Its message of grace, forgiveness and restoration helped establish the direction for the music that followed.
“More Like You” turned toward the ongoing process of becoming more like Christ—choosing His love, hope and light in everyday life—while “Count It All Joy” explored faith in the middle of difficulty. Most recently, “Wonderful God” offered a direct expression of praise centered on recognizing God’s goodness and faithfulness.
Together, those previously released songs provide the foundation for Layer One. But the EP also gives listeners their first introduction to three additional songs that expand on those ideas.
Three New Songs Continue the Story
“Faithful” centers on one of the recurring themes throughout Sarver’s recent music: looking back and recognizing God’s consistency through changing circumstances. Rather than placing faith only in the outcome of a particular season, the song points toward trusting the character of God through it.
On “Storms Don’t Bother Me,” that trust becomes a statement of resilience. The song approaches life’s storms from the perspective of someone who knows they will come but also knows where his foundation is. It’s less about pretending difficult circumstances aren’t difficult and more about refusing to let them determine where hope is placed.
“Fire” adds another side to the project, using the image of fire as part of the process through which faith is tested, strengthened and refined.
The three new tracks were written by Sarver with Tyler Logan and Matthew Humphrey, continuing collaborations that appear throughout Layer One. Sarver is a writer or co-writer on all seven songs on the project.
One Story, Told in Two Layers
The Layer One title also begins to make more sense when viewed alongside what comes next.
Rather than treating Layer One and the upcoming Layer Two as unrelated releases, the two projects are connected by the idea of looking more closely at the experiences, struggles, lessons and faith that have shaped Sarver’s life.
That becomes particularly clear with Layer Two and its title track, “Layers,” where Sarver looks back at experiences ranging from growing up fatherless to his own mistakes, hurt, guilt and shame. Pulling those layers back reveals something he couldn’t always recognize while living through them: the presence of God throughout the story.
That same perspective can be found across both collections.
Some songs look at grace and redemption. Others deal with perseverance, uncertainty, praise, renewal or learning to trust God when the outcome isn’t yet visible. Together, Layer One and Layer Two allow Sarver to approach those ideas from different points in his own experience rather than trying to tell the entire story in a single song.
It’s also a natural continuation of the direction Sarver has taken since committing himself fully to Christian music and relocating with his family from Texas to the Nashville area.
His background—from years working construction and in the oil fields to a Top 10 finish on Season 8 of American Idol, a season in country music and later serving as a worship leader—has given Sarver plenty of different chapters from which to write.
With Layer One, those chapters increasingly become part of the music.
